'CASH MOBS' MOBILIZE TO BOOST SMALL BUSINESSES

First Target: Humbert’s Meats
Saturday April 28th

FCA Trustee Gregory Hopkins suggested that we use social media to organize a series of “cash mobs” to benefit some of our small businesses in Finneytown. The premise is simple: an alert goes out via Twitter, Facebook, email, etc. that directs likeminded
shoppers to a particular retail store or restaurant.

After discussing the idea the FCA Board selected Humbert’s Meats as our first cash mob target. Humbert’s fits the profile
because they are locally owned and independently operated, not to mention they sell quality products!

We are asking everyone to go to Humbert’s on Saturday, April 28th and spend $15-20 (or more if you wish). Humbert’s is located at 9159 Winton Rd, by UDF. They are open 8-5 on Saturday’s and the phone number is 931-3324. Humbert’s also has coupons available in the Hilltop Press.

FCA Housing Committee Needs Help Monitoring Finneytown Properties

Over the past several years our community has experienced accelerated activity by absentee owners, "investors", and property flippers, resulting in many more rental homes and subsidized housing.

The Finneytown Civic Association's Housing Committee, Jim Golan and I, have been keeping track of this activity through The Neighborhood Block Watch and by the creation of a "Troubled Properties list".

There are only about 7 people on the Block Watch with Jim, and I'm alone on the property listings.

What is needed:

  • Researchers to lookup absentee owners via The Ohio Secretary of State's web site.
  • More Block Watchers.
  • Bank watchers.
  • Township watchers.
  • Ideas as to how we can stop, slow, eliminate, property deterioration.
  • More FCA members.
